2009 LOMCSA Scholarship Winner
Congratulations to Averie Christina Durand as the winner of the 2009 LOMCSA Scholarship! Averie is the daughter of Ronnie and Sonya Durand of Mansura, Louisiana. Averie has been employed as a part time Administrative Assistant at St. Romain Oil Company, Inc. for the last year while finishing high school.
Averie is a recent graduate of Avoyelles High School in Moreauville, Louisiana. Averie took all honor courses throughout her high school career and graduated with 21 hours of college credit. She achieved a perfect score of 500/500 on the GEE Math test her sophomore year. For Averie’s senior year, she was selected as the Avoyelles High Student of the Year, which is the highest honor given. She was involved in many clubs, including 4-H, Beta, FCS, SADD, KOM, Leadership Team and Prom Committee. Her biggest interest is the 4-H Club, which she served as parish president. She represented her school at Girl’s State last summer. Her church, St. Paul’s Catholic, is a big part of her life, where she has been serving as a Eucharistic Minister for the past 2 years. She has been working part time at St. Romain Oil after school as well as working at Durand’s Food Store as a clerk.
Averie is a gifted and well rounded young lady and we wish her all of the best in her future!
